Funding Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

This Funding Policy explains how donations to community cleanup projects on Peniang — operated by AITECAF — are collected, held, and disbursed. It is intended to make the flow of funds transparent to donors and project organizers.

1. Overview

Peniang lets anyone fund community cleanup projects. Donations are collected through our payment providers and directed to the specific project the donor selects.

2. How donations are collected

Donations are made by card (processed by Stripe) or by mobile money, in the currency shown at checkout. A donation is only counted once the payment provider confirms it.

3. Verified projects

Cleanup projects are reviewed before they can receive funds. Each project has a public page showing its goal, progress, organizer, and a ledger of activity.

4. How funds are disbursed

Funds raised for a project are held and released to support that project's cleanup activities in line with its stated purpose. Disbursement is tracked in the project's public ledger.

5. If a project is not fully funded or is cancelled

If a project does not reach its goal or cannot proceed, we will apply the funds to the project's stated purpose where possible, or reallocate them to a similar cleanup project. Donations remain dedicated to community cleanup activities.

6. Fees and deductions

Payment providers charge processing fees, which may be deducted from the amount received. Any additional operating deductions will be disclosed on the project or in the ledger.

7. Transparency and the public ledger

Each project publishes a donor wall and a ledger so contributions and their use can be followed. Donors may choose to appear anonymously.

8. Receipts and tax

You receive a confirmation for each donation by email. Donations are not necessarily tax-deductible; consult a tax adviser about your situation.
